[name] = Fname Mname Lname
Now, i want to create 3 columns out of it
like
[name1] = fname
[name2] = Mname
[name3] = Lname

What database are you using? substring alone won't be sufficient, but most databases have a rich string function set.

Is this Cognos 10.2 or later? What are your plans on upgrading to Cognos 11? Any solutions I give you for C10 will only work in non-interactive mode on C11.

Well, it does work in one specific case, and datasets would be significantly more difficult to work with if it didn't. But don't ask me for any hints.

We are using IBM optim archival solution DB. The function set is very limited.

One way to get parameters for dispatchers is to use cmtools (cm_tester.htm for secured environment). But this still requires quite a lot of manual work.

An old school method that might work is to multiply days by 1. There's a chance that that would have the effect of turning it into an integer.
